IMC and JJ Symth’s present talented Jazz vocalist, pianist, song writer, comedian and producer Ian Shaw who was voted as “Best Jazz Vocalist” at the BBC Jazz Awards in both 2007 and 2004. Shaw is considered to be one of the UK’s most highly acclaimed jazz vocalists. Shaw’s earlier work includes three recordings on the Ronnie Scott’s Jazzhouse record label. These recordings led to Shaw being signed to the Milestone label where his first 2 releases were co-billings with Cedar Walton: The first record, In A New York Minute was released in 1999 with the second Soho Stories following two years. In 2006, Shaw released Drawn To All Things - The Songs Of Joni Mitchell with Linn Records. Shaw continued to work with Linn records and released Lifejacket, an autobiographical collection of original songs. Eventually in 2009, Shaw recorded his first solo album entitled Somewhere Towards Love (Splash Point Records).

Shaw continued to expand his career as a performer and worked a lot with his band performing in world renowned venues such as The Vortex, Ronnie Scott’s, Queen Elizabeth Hall and The Barbican. He has also built quite a name for himself internationally having performed in the Lincoln Center (New York), The Nest (Washington DC), Fez Club (New York), the Miami Film and Music Festival, Hanoi Opera House and Ho Chi Minh City Opera (Vietnam).


In 2013-2014 Shaw toured Joni at 70 with award winning singer Claire Martin to celebrate jazz singer Joni Mitchell’s 70th birthday. The tour visited New York’s 54 Below, Toronto’s Old Mill Inn and the Elgar Room (The Albert Hall) at London Jazz Festival.


In 2015 Shaw was signed to Harmonia Mundi’s Jazz Village label with whom he recorded his most recent album The Theory Of Joy.
