Announcing the coup of the year!
Dublinjazz.ie is excited to be bringing you Gilad Hekselman’s ZuperOctave project to Dublin's newest music club, Bagots Hutton LIVE. Hekselman has for many years now been regarded as one of the leading Guitarist of his generation. Joining Hekselman is the equally prodigious Aaron Parks on keys. Parks is one of the young jazz “Superstars” emerging from the New York Jazz scene. To complete the “Monster’ trio is Kendrick Scott. Scott is an incredible talent and a leading light in the jazz world. He was last in Dublin in 2016 when he played with jazz icon, Charles Lloyd.
ZuperOctave is Gilad Hekselman's new retro-futuristic project. The trio explores the lack of a bass player and the space that it creates. Using electronic sounds, and with focus on improvised real time arranging, that space can be left unplayed, or can be covered by any one of the musicians.
Bio – Gilad Hekselman
"The feeling in a small club quickly grows intense when GILAD HEKSELMAN... steps up to improvise. Since arriving in New York... Mr. Hekselman has set himself roughly up in the line of Pat Metheny and Kurt Rosenwinkel, with a warm and clean guitar tone, clear articulation, crazily extended improvisational ideas..."- Ben Ratliff, New York Times
Gilad Hekselman has quickly developed a reputation as one of the most promising guitarists in New York since his arrival in 2004. After only a few years, this native Israeli has shared the stage with some of the greatest artists in the New York City jazz scene including Chris Potter, Mark Turner, John Scofield, Anat Cohen, Ari Hoenig, Esperanza Spalding, Sam Yahel, Jeff Ballard, Gretchen Parlato, Avishai Cohen, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Tigran Hamasyan, Aaron Parks and Greg Hutchinson.
He has performed at all of the major jazz clubs in New York City, and tours the world constantly with his band, and as a sidemen.
