Recreating a concert first performed earlier this year in Pizza Express @ Pheasantry in London, Stella Bass brings you a select musical programme as delightful as her wickedly-engaging stage presence.
Joining Stella for this concert is an all-star band from both sides of the Irish Sea; her fellow-Dubliner Hugh Buckley is on guitar, Dave Green (double bass) and Steve Brown (drums) are from the UK, and while Phil Ware may be UK-born, Ireland has firmly adopted him as one of the country's major jazz players. This quintet makes its way through a fabulous programme which mines several musical sources for its inspiration. There's certainly a nod to Stella's first jazz album, and the material also reflects her love of the Broadway musical. The band has also re-imagined some well-known movie songs, and yes...there's a James Bond theme in there too. Dublinjazz.ie are giving this band the Licence to Thrill: safe to say that Nobody Does It Better than Stella Bass and this illustrious group of musicians....
